Late Night Blessings

Saturday, May. 17, 2003 - 3:49 a.m.

I was up earlier, worried that I would be awake at this time of day, because ever since everything happened, this is still the worst time of day for me. John is asleep, and sometimes the pickings are very slim as far as the media goes.

So I got out of bed about three hours ago, logged on -- and gods be praised, found Jamie here. He was up all night. He couldn't sleep. He's reached his tolerance level for the amount of stressful disaster and doom that is evident in his current home care assignment, and is going to go ahead and do something VERY brave, and VERY right, and quit, because he knows he will do better in a better environment.

I don't know anybody else with that sort of courage. And believe me, Jamie's NOT throwing in the towel a moment too soon. I've heard him change, becoming very stressed-sounding as the weeks have progressed. He's going back today for the last time, mainly so he can grab the dvds he let his client borrow.

So we went voice -- and spent about three hours talking. I have absolutely no idea where the time went. But I'm glad it went with Jamie.

Jamie, when you see this -- remember, I love you a whole bunch, and whatever you decide is best for you is fine by me. I know you'll land on your feet. And even if you don't, I will give you a hand up and dust you off. You've done it for me.
