Friday Five / Disappearances Friday, Jan. 23, 2004 - 5:14 a.m. This week's Friday Five: (Questions are boldface, my answers appear beneath.) ...song? A: Hard question. I like so many. At this moment, I am listening to a song called 'Dans Un Spoutnik' by an artist named Daniel Blanger. I also like a song of his called 'Rver Mieux'. And at the risk of sounding unbalanced, I currently have the theme to 'Super Chicken' residing in my head as well. But that's All Dave's Fault.(TM) And another one I like right now is 'God Is A DJ', by Pink. ...food? A: I'm noshing right now on rotelle alfredo, with diced chicken. This is left over from a couple of evenings back. It's still delicious. ...tv show? A: I've been enjoying seeing the Dick Van Dyke show reruns on TV Land lately, but I'll be very glad when NYPD Blue returns. ...scent? A: Drakkar Noir. Also, bacon. There's another scent I enjoy too, but I wouldn't know how to put it into words that wouldn't melt the screen. ...quote? A: "Be bold, and mighty forces will come to your aid" -- Goethe.
--- Okay. Now, if you wanna play Friday Five, go here. --- In other news, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are no longer engaged. That 'gloop, gloop' sound you hear is my heard bleeding. I actually heard the media refer to them as Hollywood's Royal Couple. Jesus wept. No, folks -- how about Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward? They've been married for something like fifty years and there's been no scandal associated with either of them. THAT my friends is Hollywood Royalty. --- There's two significant disappearances to report this week... The Mars Rover is ominously silent, having stopped transmitting anything useable a couple of days ago. Oh here I go anthropormorphising again... Poor little thing. I hope it's all right. The other disappearance is that of Spalding Gray, the playwright and actor. He'd been depressed over the holidays. The last thing he did before he disappeared was go see 'Big Fish' with his family. I'm sure that's no reflection on the movie itself -- but it is still so sad. If he's shuffled off this mortal coil, then the world will be sadder for his passing. --- Jamie and I opted out of our movie date last night. It turned out that we both needed sleep, which I hope we both got. Oh well. As long as he saw the movie, I'm happy. ---
