Friday Five (Not A Misprint!)

Tuesday, Mar. 23, 2004 - 12:41 p.m.

Egads, I'm late! LOLOL And wait till you see what I'm posting!

---

This week's Friday Five: (Questions are boldface, my answers appear beneath.)

If you...

...owned a restaurant, what kind of food would you serve?

A: The name of the restaurant would be Daddy's Grill, the fare would be whatever the chef wanted, and there would be low-carb alternatives for those who wanted them. And yes, I have the chef picked out.

...owned a small store, what kind of merchandise would you sell?

A: I'd love to run a hobby store with an emphasis on one inch:one foot miniature dollhouse furniture.

...wrote a book, what genre would it be?

A: It would be a book about Internet fraud.

...ran a school, what would you teach?

A: Music appreciation.

...recorded an album, what kind of music would be on it?

A: Solo piano with vocals.

---

Okay. Now, if you wanna play Friday Five, go here.

I'm nearly done posting the images I want to show you all of Cheri's visit out here; life is back to normal in the McLaughlin household, pretty much -- but gosh, it was different here for a few days.

Yes, the good kind of different. :)

---

Yesterday I was asked in the comments section about what I've done to achieve my weight loss.

I've basically sworn off the following foods: Breads, pastas, cereals, desserts, chocolate, real sugar, carrots, tomatoes, peas, potatoes, and anything I've forgotten that contains real sugar, or otherwise massive amounts of starches and carbohydrates.

At first it was really difficult, but once my body became accustomed to the new way of eating, it's somewhat easier. I can still indulge once in awhile, and have fat-free, sugar free Jello Instant Chocolate Pudding a couple of times a week -- and I still use my regular salad dressing. Other than that, a typical day's meal consists of mostly meats, cheeses, and green leafies.

Today, breakfast was one egg with bacon bits. Lunch will be a leftover pork chop, with broccoli. Dinner will be Salisbury Steak, again with broccoli. And in between, I drink water, take my Flinstones Chewables, and eat lots of salad. Snacks include mozzarella cheese sticks (we call it 'string cheese' here in this household), and the occasional piece of dry salami.

Yes, it's difficult. Yes, sometimes I make mistakes. Yes, I miss my old rich sugary foods.

But so far, it's been worth it.

My skin has cleared up, and my allergies are not in evidence like they usually are at this time of year.

Anyway, sorry this is late. :) I didn't mean to worry the people who emailed me. I'm fine. :)

Glad to hear about the milestone. I adopted your diet last saturday and have dropped 17# in four days. (Don't be jealous...I'm still over 300#...I just no longer weight 1/6 of a ton.) Keep up the good work and keep down the bad weight.
