Post Office & Friday Five

Saturday, Apr. 17, 2004 - 11:13 a.m.

I just got back from the post office. I was one of two customers there at this time of day, and the service was prompt. I mailed the package to Dave Marron. I also found him a really nice belated birthday card. The irony is, I didn't put it in the package, which means, yes, it's going to be late. Pwah.

I get to go back to the post office on Monday and overnight somebody some cookies, but generally if I get there before lunch, there's not too many people there.

Last night was pleasant -- I got to spend time on the webcam with Todd Thalimer, whom I'd only seen in person for the second time in my life, just five days before. He'd moved his computer up into his bedroom, and I got to see what that looked like. He says it was unusually warm in Colorado that night, and that it was nearly time for him to uncover the swamp cooler and crank it up. My parents had a swamp cooler too; to see him use that term brought back so many memories. We each fixed our dinner, and came back over in front of the cams and ate 'together'. And THEN, when my visit with Todd was over, I finally got to speak to Shiloh on the telephone after knowing her for about a year. What a sweet speaking voice she's got. We also had a good visit, nearly an hour of conversation, and it seemed like only a few minutes had elapsed.

Yesterday I received a notice from the Friday Five person, stating that there would not be many Friday Fives for the next few weeks. Well, I guess that's okay.

From the Friday Five archives: (Questions are boldface, my answers appear beneath.)

February 14th, 2003

Explain why you started to journal/blog.

A: I began this journal as part of a recovery process from being manipulated and emotionally abused by a person claiming to be Andy Bell, the lead singer of Erasure. My feelings needed to go someplace, and due to his own difficulties with this problem person, my husband didn't feel like listening to me talk about the Erasure impostor anymore, so I came here to Diaryland instead. Eventually, the journal has evolved into its present form.

Do people you interact with day to day or family members know about your journal/blog? Why or why not?

A: Yes, anybody who wants to read this journal is welcome to do so. My assumption is that if you come here and read my words, that you're interested in my feelings. If something I say bothers you, then remember that nobody forces you to read my work. :-)

Do you have a theme for your journal/blog?

A: You mean like, a template? Not really. Since I live about six long blocks away from the Pacific Ocean, and I can hear the breakers when the window is open at night, the name seemed obvious to me.

What direction would you like to have your journal/blog go in over the next year?

A: Nothing in particular, just the ongoing adventures of a moderately insane housewife in San Francisco.

Pimp five of your favorite journals/blogs.

A: Go see my buddy list for my favorites. The only one that isn't there belongs to Todd Thalimer.

Okay. Now, if you wanna play Friday Five, go here.
