Friday Five Archive / Phone Woes

Friday, Apr. 23, 2004 - 6:52 a.m.

This week's archive Friday Five from December 21, 2001 (Questions are boldface, my answers appear beneath.)

What is the weirdest thing you've ever eaten?

A: If people count, I refuse to answer that question on the grounds it may incinerate me (sic). But if you're talking about an odd food combination, I'd have to say either dark chocolate cake frosting on Cool Ranch Doritos, or Gerber baby peaches mixed with Bac-Os and consumed on Nilla Wafers.

Name one (material) thing you can't live without.

A: Whichever server hosts Diaryland. :)

Name something you've always wanted to do but didn't have time for.

A: Guitar lessons.

What outrageous thing do you wish you had the nerve to do?

A: Stand-up comedy on open mike night.

How do you plan to spend your weekend?

A: Somewhere in there is a movie date with Scott Hysmith, and a music date with Todd Thalimer. But other than knowing they'll happen between Saturday morning and Sunday night, I have no idea when these will actually occur.

Okay. Now, if you wanna play Friday Five, go here.

Yesterday, the evening was spent on the phone with a technician from T-Mobile. John and I have been unable to send Picture Messages to one another since yesterday morning, and I haven't even been able to send PMs to myself, or to anybody else on my email list. ONE and exactly one PM got through last night, and that was to John as an experiment while we were on the phone with tech support. I think I should invest in one of those little peel-and-stick signal boosters, but I don't have any experience with them. Anybody out there have any advice for me here? Thanks.

---

I went ahead and was a cultural lemming last night and watched the third-to-last episode of Friends last night; when I have bothered to watch the show, it's been good -- and I have no idea how the show's run is going to conclude. It's been a consistent and nicely-written program, and, like M*A*S*H*, it seems to be exiting while still in fine form. (Mumble mutter final season of Beauty and the Beast, mumble mutter grunch grunch)

And finally -- today is the birthday of the REAL Andy Bell. He is forty fingers old.

---

I do believe that's it for now. Have a good weekend.

In the Bay area we've been experiencing some issues with the MMS,T-Zones,WAP etc. This is actually happening in all the markets :( Should be cleared up shortly though.

The little signal boosters are useless. Worse than useless in fact. I got worse reception on my phone with a signal booster installed (installed exactly according to instructions, and tested various not according to instructions ways).
