Land Of The Lost

Tuesday, May. 26, 2009 - 12:59 a.m.

Memorial Day / Towel Day passed peacefully here in the McLaughlin household.

We stayed in and watched DVDs, which is what we generally most enjoy doing on Memorial Day now.

Gods help us all, between the DVDs, I caught a glimpse of a marathon of Land Of The Lost episodes on the Sci Fi Channel.

Hey, now, Wesley Eure used to really tickle my ivories, so give me a break.

Besides, John pointed out that it looked an awful lot like Doctor Who, production-value-wise.

I never noticed the similarity until he pointed it out, myself. But John's right, it does.

Bass practice continues to improve.

My practice sessions are now lasting for thirty minutes, consisting of twenty minutes of scales, and then ten minutes of playing along to my iTunes set on random.

The octaves are slow to achieve, but their sound is getting better and better as the days go by.

---

The band itself finally reconvenes on the 31st.

It will be nice to see everybody again; I plan to show up no matter what else any of the other members manage to achieve, attendance-wise.

I will borrow a bass from Alan and show him what I can do, and then listen to any suggestions he has.

There's still a ways to go before I'll be able to sing and play at the same time, but I don't have as fatalistic an outlook as I did a couple of days ago.

---

Today, the state supreme court rules on the validity of Proposition 8.

My digits are firmly juxtaposed that the ruling will overturn the vote, and that two unrelated consenting adults will at long last be able to do whatever the fuck they want, commitment-wise.

---

That's it. Have a good Tuesday!

its amazing how these so called "pro-family" groups can bring folks into the state here and register them to vote and pad the polls and pass crap like prop 8 and no one seems to care about this!
