Phew Friday, Aug. 28, 2009 - 1:03 a.m. Phew. The digital cable box thing not only works, but it works beautifully and simply. And wow there's a skillion jillion music channels to listen to as well, including a couple of local radio stations that we've only been able to receive when one or the other of us is covered with aluminum foil and touching the stripped ground wire of the receiver. So, definitely an improvement. Once installation was underway, it was a snap. John and I braved the dust broncos lurking behind the entertainment center and when the flashlight beam hit the back of the VCR it was like sunshine, because I'd forgotten that I'd made LABELS for all the wiring the last time we'd had everything unscrewed. So it took like, two minutes to assign the correct dance partners and plug stuff in. --- The thing I'm most relieved about is that there is a "VCR" setting on the box. The VCR itself is only programmed to record channel 3, but the digital box will turn on and off as it's told to do. Cool. --- Ahh. There's my news channels again. Whew. --- That's it. Have a good Friday. ---
