Spark Wave

Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009 - 4:46 a.m.

I was digging through the pictures in my cell phone, and found one of Solange that I can't remember if I've posted or not, so here it is, maybe again.

This was taken back in 2008 before Laila came to join the Chez Too Old family.

If memory serves me correctly, it was taken on the day I arrived for a visit; she gravitates toward my black luggage like a bumblebee to a flower.

---

I found a link to a story over on FARK, in which two students were allegedly fooling around with hand sanitizer and that the stuff was a component in a school fire.

Excuse me. I call horseshit.

After many nights out on Ocean Beach with various setups filled or covered with hand sanitizer, plus something to set it on fire?

Nope. I sincerely think this is something that didn't happen the way the story says it did.

I defy anybody reading this to be able to set a fire using Purell as the sole accelerant, without using anything other than a stick lighter, then stepping away.

And send me the video, including your face and the local paper showing the day this happened.

Otherwise, nope.

---

For awhile, California was under a tsumani warning.

Apparently there was a possibility of a wave around a foot higher than normal if it had panned out.

---

That's pretty much it. Have a good Wednesday.

Actually, I played with a bit of alcohol-based hand sanitizer this summer, on a baking pan. It burns well, and to my shock, the flames are very difficult to see, so when I thought it was out, it was still very much going, almost catching something on fire because of it. So I think that story is possible. We take the stuff on camping trips, not just for it's intended purpose, but to help with stubborn campfires and to remove pine tar and other sticky things from hands.

Wow, I've never tried it on / in a baking pan. You are probably onto something. :)
