Moon & Mickey

First off -- I got a sensational moon impact picture!

Heh.

The Blue Angels practiced yesterday and as they did so, the fog seemed to lift.

This is weird; them controlling the weather conditions like that.

It is most certainly a secret military weapon of some kind.

Good thing it's also being used in times of peace, huh?

Friday Five

At what age do you think it's appropriate for someone to get their driver's license?

Whenever they can pass a driving test and are able to safely operate a vehicle. I still don't understand the age limit thing where drivers' licenses are concerned.

At what age do you think it's appropriate for someone to first drink alcohol?

I came from a household where it was prevalent, and drank one bottle beer on New Years Day since I was twelve. Strangely enough, I've never had a problem with fire water as an adult. So I guess the answer still have to be 21 for the USA, but there's a lot to consider.

At what age do you think it's appropriate for someone to become sexually active?

That's a tough one. We're built to reproduce in our early teens and die when we're fifty, so this last two hundred years of civilization has been tough on our several million years of reproduction and longevity evolution parameters. I'll let the states decide this one.

At what age do you think it's appropriate for someone to vote in elections affecting national and/or local government?

Any emancipated minor or anybody over the age of 18 should be allowed to vote.

At what age do you think it's appropriate for someone to be conscripted for military service?

The current laws pertaining to this are all right.

Link is to the left, etc.

Alan and his family are driving back from Disneyland today.

He sent me a phone picture yesterday, and asked me if I could see the hidden Mickey:

Ahem. Most of Mickey was hidden, but some of him was strategically quite visible.

---

All right, that's it. Have an excellent Friday.

Is that a mouse in Walt's pocket or is Disneyland just happy to see us all? Viewed from that perspective, my visits will never be quite the same. :-)

Friday Five At what age do you think it's appropriate for someone to get their driver's license? 16 is the right age, at least it was when I was that age. It's a tough answer because I also never had a cell phone or ipods when I was 16 so while I say 16 I think that all drivers under the age of 21 should have to go to drivers education At what age do you think it's appropriate for someone to first drink alcohol? I personally never drank alcohol until the day I turned 21 but that's just me. I think if you are old enough to serve in the military (18) you are old enough to drink. People of all ages will enjoy alcohol in all sorts of ways. You could argue that the sooner a person is introduced drinking (say wine with meals @14 and up) might be better than introducing it to late (say with 21 year old frat boys at daily keggers.)No matter what though the legal age to purchase alcohol should be 18. At what age do you think it's appropriate for someone to become sexually active? 18 and older, now that might not be a popular choice but it wasn't that big of an issue to our grandparents. They only reason things have changed is because of the media. Grandparents were never exposed to sexually pervasive things in the media, while some of our parents growing up in the late 60's and 70's were all peace, free love, and happiness and they started at 17 or 18 years old, and well today we have Hannah Montana making 15 year olds aware of their sexuality and young girls pining over the Jonas Brothers. My view is that we need to set standards for children and their sexuality.(although if we did there would be no Maury Povich Show. At what age do you think it's appropriate for someone to vote in elections affecting national and/or local government? 18. (if you can die for your country then you can vote for your country) At what age do you think it's appropriate for someone to be conscripted for military service? 18 is the correct age to decide for yourself where it is you want life to take you!
