there is now a federal lawsuit to overturn prop 8 because it violates the 14th amendment to the constitution, and it will most likely take 2 years for this to get to the supremes, but now the gay rights folks say its too early for that! interesting discussion over at sf gate! --- OmahaDave
Hum, looking into the history of the 14th amendment, California, a state at the time the 14th amendment was proposed (1866), was not one of the original states to ratify that amendment, finally doing so almost a hundred years later in 1959..... So if anything, California historically lags when it comes to 14th amendment issues. :-( All the states that currently allow for gay marriage also initially ratified the 14th, yes, even Iowa... I just shake my head at the supporters of Prop 8. Do they really think they can legislate inequality? On the lighter side, still looking forward to hearing some fresh bass... --- andy
Bass can be a great release, especially at times when aggravated by political situations that affect us personally. I've always found it to be one of the most laid-back and unassuming of rock/jazz instruments. (In your position, I would think that to tune into the bass drum in your band would be key - but not to assume, not having heard you guys. Just general rule-of-thumb.) Anyway, my point, before I tangented parenthetically, was: *therapeutic.* Also, I suppose since my diary is locked these days I'll link to one of my new myspaces. Ten of my piano recordings are on this one - enjoy. ---
