A wise person once told me, "When someone walks away from you, do not follow." Sounds like this particular friend changed (walked away) too much for you to follow.

So interesting about the addictive states of mind, makes everything so much clearer now. I've "noticed" this phenomenon for years (inability to break free from statedly undesirable situations that appear to be addictions to misery--because they ARE! Thanks for sharing.
