Cranberries and Babies Wednesday, Apr. 19, 2006 - 9:42 a.m. After a half-gallon of cranberry juice, an additional half-gallon of water, and an entire night of pain-free sleep, and a temperature of normal, I am reasonably certain the worst is over regarding my kidney stone. Mind you, this was an extremely mild case, and I did receive medical counseling from the advice nurse which worked. But if it hadn't. I would have gone to the emergency room for treatment. I was lucky. --- In the 'Dunno Nothin' Bout Namin' Babies' department, two announcements:
--- Actress Katie Holmes, who is engaged to film star Tom Cruise, has given birth to the couple's first child. Holmes gave birth to a baby girl, Suri, on Tuesday in Los Angeles. Both mother and baby were "doing well", a spokesman said in a statement. The baby is the first for Holmes, 27, while Cruise has two adopted children from his marriage to Nicole Kidman. The couple, who have been engaged since June 2005, plan to marry in late summer or early autumn, according to Cruise. The baby's name, Suri, came from Hebrew, meaning "princess" or in Persian, meaning "red rose", the statement said. When a child is saddled with an unusual name, their lives are forever impacted, and not in a good way. Jason Lee named his offspring Pilot Inspektor, and Rachel Griffiths named her spawn Banjo. And let's not forget our pal Nicolas Cage, who named his son Kal-El Coppola Cage. By the way -- Suri is also a Japanese word that means 'pickpocket'. --- Okay, that's it. Have a good Wednesday! ---
