Cancel & Skin Deep

Sunday, Jun. 25, 2006 - 1:39 a.m.

Well. Dave's gig got canceled last night.

That infuriated me for a number of reasons, the principal of which was that was the night he was going to interview and test the replacment drummer that will be needed for the summer Saturday nights his mundane job beckons. Luckily, we tracked down the sub drummer in time, and Dave caught him before he made the drive.

Dave did a better job writing it up than I could, because he experienced it first-hand.

But pardon me for laughing at the bosslady's 'logic'. If Bob Chance was out sick, then it wasn't really the Bob Chance Band, and the rest of the members needn't appear, even though on FRIDAY night the show went just fine. Good move, bosslady. Screw the rest of the band just because one of them is ill.

So.

Exactly almost no customers showed up, and the bar closed at 10:45pm.

I smell a phone tree.

:-)

Anyway, better mood established... John and I sat up last night and watched the restored DVD verison of Bambi.

We finally found out who the voice of young Bambi was. A lad by the name of Donnie Dunagan.

Donald Dunagan went on to become -- at the age of 19 -- the youngest drill instructor in Marine Corps history.

A job he most sincerely doubts he could have been able to obtain if anybody knew he'd been the voice of Bambi.

Something's been driving me nuts for awhile, and I'm asking my readership for help.

I'm almost certain this song appeared in its entirely or in part in a movie from the 80s, but I can't place where.

Go to the song called SKIN DEEP on this page. It's the Amazon link to the Stranglers' Greatest Hits.

If there's anything you can tell me about where else that song lurks, I'd appreciate any help you might be able to give.

There ya go. Have a wonderful Sunday.
