Allegedly A Guy Thing Friday, Jul. 07, 2006 - 1:10 a.m. When I ask a question, trying to find out more information, and the person answers with something obtuse? That's just wrong. Me (coming into the living room from the bedroom after a nap) Hi, John. Whatcha watching? OR Me: So, Brian, where does your new girlfriend live? What the heck IS this? Stop DOING that to me. I have enough to deal with regarding my encroaching deafness and my dyslexia, and what I *DO NOT* appreciate is being tweaked around with and being made to ask just exactly the right question before accurate information is forthcoming. My parents used to do that to me, and I'm just now getting to the stage in life where I no longer analyze things to death, so don't push those buttons, please. I'm trying to lay those demons to rest. Here's what would have worked better, in both instances. Me: Hi, John, Whatcha watching? OR Me: So, Brian, where does your new girlfriend live? Why in HELL do you make me go prospecting like that? I *HATE* that! Stop doing it! You are inflicting pain on me by forcing me to think too hard! John says it's a Guy Thing. Is that right, guys?... --- Okay, here's another amazing discovery I made just last night while on the phone with Old Buddy Dave. Our respective local teams, the As and the Angels, were playing one another at Oakland. We each watched the broadcast offered to our local market, and a few minutes into the game, we realized with dawning annoyance that my broadcast was arriving about three and a half seconds before his was. The pricipal events of the game were relayed to him ahead of him seeing them via me going OOH! and WOW! and HOMER! and so on and so forth, including the final run of the game. So. We're going to an As at Angels game together down in Anaheim at the end of September; I daresay our chances of seeing the exact same feed shall be increased by some magnitude of possibility if we are sitting adjacent to one another in the stands. --- K, that's it. Have a Friday. ---
