From Home To Home

Thursday, Aug. 03, 2006 - 12:00 a.m.

Sometime later this morning in the hour between nine and ten am, Old Buddy Dave will knock on the motel door, then we'll load me and my massive pile of traveling debris into his car, and head on up the highway.

This time, if all goes well during the trip, I should even be able to catch a glimpse of the James Dean Memorial. I've loved James Dean ever since I saw him in Giant.

We're heading up the Grapevine, and we'll cut over on highway 46 and hit 101, where there will be the Denny's in Paso Robles where we did this in reverse a week ago. We'll meet John there, and I'll be handed back over to my husband and to my life in San Francisco.

---

Glad to be going home, and Dave's said as much, too, but I'll sure miss the local radio talk shows. There's a really good local show here that follows the Tom Leykis show, featuring Whitman and Conway, and the Conway is Tim Conway Jr.

I think this is the same Tim Conway Jr. who was taught by his famous father to fill out racing forms before he was ten, and who got daddy in assloads of trouble for showing the rest of the kids how to do this during Show And Tell.

---

The minute it clicks over to Thursday, I'm posting this, and then turning off the laptop and packing it up.

I have had a wonderful visit.

Have a good Thursday!

Next post will be from my home, as opposed to my home away from home.
