Help Needed

Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006 - 3:07 p.m.

Friends -- I need you. But not for me this time.

This time, I need you for somebody else.

---

In 1999, I edited a graphic novel entitled Clockwork Angels, which was written by Lea Hernandez.

Last Wednesday, September 6th -- Lea's house caught fire.

She, her husband, and their two children got out just fine. But some pets did not. And everything that was not burned was otherwise destroyed by smoke or water.

All of her art supplies were lost, and until those things are replaced, she cannot make a living.

She had insurance, thank goddess, but having been married to somebody in the insurance industry for nearly fifteen years, I can tell you from 'spousal osmosis' that there's almost always a gap between what the insurance will cover versus what's actually become useful or precious to an individual.

My regular readers know I'm not one to ask big favors of you too often. But when I need to, I do -- and I'm doing it now.

If the universe has been kind to you and you are in a position to reciprocate, I am herewith requesting that you pay it forward in the form of sending Lea something via PayPal.

It doesn't have to be a lot, but all delicacy aside, cold hard cash is something she needs very badly right now.

So, how you do that is, you go to PayPal, and you make a donation to: [email protected].

Please let her know where you saw this, as she's got numerous places from which donations are being sent.

Here is Lea's blog in case you want more particulars on a day to day basis.

---

Thanks in advance, kids. Even if you can't do something, at least spread the word or send good vibes.
