New VCR Thursday, Mar. 22, 2007 - 12:55 a.m. The old VCR finally went rubber feet up yesterday, naturally just before South Park, so I didn't get to tape the ten pm showing. In order to replace it with the newer one we bought some years ago but hadn't installed, it involved moving the entertainment center and crawling around in the dust and scooting about thirty percent of our living room schwag from one place to another. But between John and me, it got done! Thanks, John!.... --- The newest episode of South Park wasn't laugh out loud funny, but they did a pretty thorough job of paying homage to several movies, and skewering an overexposed celeb. I'd say that's par for the course. :-) --- Here's another Internet fraud story where somebody gets in trouble for committing fraud. When will it be MY turn for justice?...
Richard Vasquez had an online and telephone romantic relationship with the man, and eventually began asking him for money to help family members, according to court documents. Vasquez even met the man, posing as Alexis' brother, Alex, to collect money. In all, the York man gave Vasquez nearly $20,000. York County District Judge Alan Gless sentenced Vasquez to 20 months to three years in prison for fraud. Thankfully, my predator didn't steal too much money from me, but he definitely lied to me and committed mail fraud. Yes, it happened five years ago. Yes, he's still at large. But what he did was wrong, and until he's caught and made to answer for his actions, I will not 'let go'. To let go is akin to condoning it. --- In the Rock VS Hard Place department:
The annual catch limit is usually set by the third week of March with the hunt beginning by the end of the month, but ice conditions are so poor this year officials are not sure if they will allow a hunt at all. The mortality rate from poor ice conditions is one of the factors in setting the limit. Young seals cannot swim in the first few weeks of life and live on ice floes. Ice conditions near Newfoundland are better, and the hunt there is expected to begin as usual. If the ice is thin and melty, the cutsey wootsey seals will be SAFE! What a dilemma for the Green Heads!... --- Okay, there. Have a good Thursday! ---
