Friday Five & Miscellany Saturday, Jun. 30, 2007 - 3:11 a.m. Filed under the Here, Kitty Kitty department: I just love stories like this. --- Here's a hunk of a screen picture I took of a headline in today's San Jose Mercury News: It galls me to think that somebody somewhere is being paid about twenty dollars an hour to monitor the Merc's website to make sure this sort of stupidity doesn't actually make it out to where the public can see it. --- Friday Five:
I got a Barbie Dream House the Yulexmas after I turned eight. And I think I got a Barbie in honor of Barbie's sixteenth birthday. She smelled like strawberries. What was the worst gift you received? On my seventh birthday, three of the people I invited to my party brought the same gift: Chinese Checkers. I know they didn't mean it, but everybody felt bad as soon as they were all unwrapped. What gift did you wish for, but never got? I don't recall ever having wished for something that I didn't get. My parents were pretty cool about the presents thing. I wasn't spoiled, but usually they'd let me ask for one big thing, and they said I'd made sensible choices, and usually got me what I asked for. What was the best present you gave? I'm assuming my husband is pretty fond of his car. What was the worst present you gave? The ones that haven't been delivered to their intended recipients yet. Mutter. Okay, link is to the left, as usual. --- I was saddended to see the announcement of the passing of Joel Siegel, who was one of my favorite movie critics because he had such a kind sense of humor, even for those whose movies really sucked. He was 63, and he died of colon cancer. --- On a lighter note, I saw on TV in the midst of the iPhone frenzy, a familiar face standing in line with the rest of the customers. Woz went to the Valley Fair Mall Apple Store because he said he's been coming to that mall since he was a kid, and wanted the same customer experience as everybody else. How cool. --- Okay, bye. Have a nice Saturday! ---
