Worth It

Saturday, Aug. 04, 2007 - 1:27 a.m.

Got a call from Kaiser the other day.

I would have enjoyed knowing what was being told to me, except whoever was leaving the message had such a heavy accent I was perplexed at first.

"Heddo, dis is Katty from Kaiser Permanantee, calling for Brin to tell you it now time for you firs ma mugga fee."

I finally figured out that ma mugga fee stood for mammography, which means I get to go get my tits crushed and candled.

Will do! I keep thinking if my mother had been more attentive where her own ma mugga fees were concerned, would she still be on this side of the dirt.

I was chatting late Friday night with Bob Lai and I had an epiphany.

I live in San Francisco, and it's the only place on the planet where I'm more afraid to tell people I am a registered Republican than I am to tell them I am a Pagan.

---

Haven't done an Unconscious Mutterings in a while, so here we go.

It's a word-association exercise.

say ... and you think ... ?

Traditional :: wedding
Popeye :: spinach
Gin :: rhubarb (long story)
Harsh :: climate
Topless :: dancer
The thing :: an intelligent carrot!
Defiant :: weeds
Huge :: ocean
Food :: dishes
Lenny :: Weinrib

There's stuff over on the Memes List link. Have fun over there!

Finally, congratulations to Queen guitarist Brian May, who after a 'gap year' lasting from 1971 to 2007, went back to school and completed his astronomy-based PhD thesis.

Staying up all night, was it all worth it
Ooh living breathing rock 'n' roll this never ending fight
Was it all worth it, was it all worth it
Yes it was a worthwhile experience

Okay, there. Have a nice weekend!
