Embers And Honesty Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2007 - 12:00 a.m. The four names mentioned yesterday were of the Queens in a deck of cards. --- I was fogged in. Hope you got to see the eclipse. --- in 1982 there was a congressional page sex scandal, in which male pages as young as sixteen (the age of consent in Washington DC) made statements to the media implying that they'd been approached in a sexual context by several senators. Although none were specifically named by those pages, only one senator issued a statement of denial. Care to guess which one? Hint: He represents Idaho. And for what it's worth, as far as Senator Larry Craig's hedonistic pursuits may or may not be concerned? I don't give two farts in a martini if he's gay. I couldn't care less what he does or does not put in his mouth in his off-hours. What I don't happen to like about it is the voting-record hypocrisy he's shown if he is. And I also don't like it when closeted members of the gay community treat their homosexuality as if it's a disease or a mistake, because it is neither. That should never have to happen. --- In the Premature Incineration department, Monday night / early Tuesday morning, the centerpiece of the Burning Man festival has already been briefly set ablaze. The Black Rock City Emergency Services fire crew had it extinguished in about twenty minutes, and it will be inspected, shored up if needed, and re-ignited at its usual time at close of business Saturday night. What the hell is it about people who insist on ruining other people's fun? --- That's it for today. Have a good Wednesday. ---
