Media People Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007 - 9:55 a.m. Dear Media People RE the recent wildfires here in California: When you say that almost a million people were evacuated, that sounds disgusting. Finish the sentence: Nearly a million people were evacuated from their homes. The word 'evacuate' means 'to empty out'. So when I hear that a bunch of people have been evacuated, the unfortunate vision that comes to mind is a determined group of nurses holding buckets of warm water and hoses. Please, media people. Get it right. --- Cero's was fun last night as usual; Rocky's name hastily disappeared from the marquee outside, and the subspace chatter indicates that he's Never Going To Play At Cero's Again, Because Everybody Has Had It Up To Here With Him. I wish I knew more details, but I suppose I'll find out. In other news, the recently-acquired-by-Mona PA system has a short in it that was strong enough to light up and make Kern's arm nice and tingly. It made for fascinating viewing, though, because I was absolutely certain that during the show, either he or Bob would spontaneously combust at any moment. Later, as I was helping break the drums down, I'd also reached down to unfasten a cable that nobody else could reach, and as I was bent over, Kern leaned over next to me and said 'bzzt' -- which apparently caused one of the All Time Top Ten Goose Reactions in western civilization. --- Tonight, the band plays at a venue I have never been to before; the Moose Lodge in Brea. And for tonight, the Lodge is waiving its drinks fee. Hopefully enough of the Cero's regulars will show up and help support the band, and entice the Moose to hire them on a semi-regular basis. Moose. Mooses. Meese?... --- Okay, that's it. Have a nice Saturday. ---
