Shift Friday, Nov. 02, 2007 - 1:18 a.m. I made it back to San Francisco all right. My flight was just fine, and as always, I lucked out by starting a conversation with the fellow standing in line next to me as we waited to board. He was an architect on his way to see his brother, who always tries to ding him out of cheap design work. I mentioned that so-called 'friends' kept asking for discounts when I sold comic books, and that I'd always refuse. The man said "Wow, what's happening in comics nowadays? I haven't kept up with anything since the original Elfquest." And away we went. We relived the significant events in the lives of Cutter and Leetah, and came to the conclusion that Skywise should have been killed off that first time he was injured during the Quest. As I said, the flight was just fine, and as the man and I prepared to leave the plane and head up the gantry to the airport, we wished each other Shade And Sweet Water. --- When I got home, John showed me a peculiar thing that happened on my altar while I was gone. Remember that nice wavy earthquake from a couple of days ago? The items on my altar had shifted. I dusted my altar before I left, but everything had done a left-right shimmy, and the marks were easy to see. --- There's a big pile of snailmail here to go through. Mostly one-shot christmas catalogs, but then there's nuggests like the C Crane catalog that make the rest of the mail spam worth it. --- Okay. There you go. Have a good Friday! ---
