Water, Gossip & Wishes

Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008 - 1:17 a.m.

I had a peculiar thing happen to me yesterday that prevented me from going downtown to see John for his birthday.

There'd been a break in one of the city water mains located several miles across town, and by the time I had headed into the shower, that silt and chlorine cloud had made its way to our side of town.

It lasted just long enough for me to not be able to take a shower and head out.

So, I was stuck here, smelling like a day in the swimming pool followed by a few laps around the track.

I went ahead and filtered many many cupfuls of water through our pitcher and attempted an APC and to rinse my hair.

There's only a little grottiness in my hair, but the rest of me smells and feels okay.

---

John was, as is frequently the case, very understanding. He was meeting with Peter Wong downtown as well, so the two of them had a good visit.

When he got home from work, I made him some pizza and we had some sweets, and he had brandy&soda, and we watched Mythbusters and Project Runway.

He said that, even though I was quite literally a washout, it was one of the nicer birthdays he'd had.

He'd received birthday wishes from far and wide, including at least one surprise well-wisher.

And, hooray, the water is finally clear and non-nasty smelling again.

---

Britney Spears was looking at piddle sticks yesterday.

Holy Christ.

---

Days Of Our Lives is riveting.

The writing is scary good, and the actors are amazing.

I'm hearing rumors that the two head writers may have crossed the pickets, but that the majority of the dialogue is being handled by the scabs.

What a shame something like a strike has to happen before a lumbering old stalwart like DOOL becomes excellent again.

---

I think that's about it; Have a good Thursday.
