Faith, Work, Kitteh & F5

Friday, Jan. 18, 2008 - 12:33 a.m.

I'm seeing where "The Golden Compass", along with the rest of the His Dark Materials trilogy is having a hard time finding its way onto approved lists of Catholic reading materials.

This has nothing to do with censorship, but gosh, shouldn't one's faith be at least as unchangeable as one's natural eye color? Why would a person of genuine faith have a problem with any opposing viewpoint? Wouldn't counter arguments be a source of strengthening for one's faiith?

Oh, well. That's the way I think it should work, but that's not how it works.

Seems to me there's a major religion out there that advocates killing of non-believers. Hmmm.

That doesn't sound like the path of a strong faith-filled movement.

That's just cowardice disgused as religion.

Old Buddy Dave says he hasn't found this shutdown function on Solange yet, but the picture does prove it exists in the Siamese psyche:

All we have to do now is find where her emegency shutoff is located.

Today there's a second chance to see John for lunch. Yay!

Marty Nemko, one of the nation's more visible career counseling experts, has written an excellent article about the best careers of 2008.

Worth a look, even if you're happy where you are.

And finally, wow, gee, a Friday Five! On time!...

If you could do one thing in the world, what would you do?
Take away all self-loathing.

If you could be any character from a book, movie, or television show, who would you be? Why?
Hermione Granger. Duh.

If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be?
I'd make people less stupid and more aware that human-caused global warming to the extent of actually changing the weather is complete bullshit.

If you could make out with one person of the same sex, who would it be?
If I and the lady were so inclined, probably Bridget from The Girls Next Door.

If you could make out with one person of the opposite sex, who would it be?
I'm happy with my current arrangements, thank you. But to stretch a point, probably Tom Chaplin if he'd stop smoking.

The link is to the left. And there's other memes there as well.

There you go. Have an excellent Friday, and be safe if you're travelling on this long weekend.
