The Speech

Wednesday, Mar. 19, 2008 - 2:04 a.m.

Something kind of cool is coming up for me, DiaryLandwise; Old Buddy Dave reminded me. I'll tell you tomorrow. :-)

The other cool thing that's coming up tomorrow is National Sweater Day, where we all wear a sweater of some sort to celebrate what would have been the 80th birthday of Fred Rogers.

---

Here's the text of Obama's speech.

I thought it was wonderful, and if you want to see someone who actually deals with problems headon, go and have a read.

---

Did everybody see this yesterday? I found it in FARK, with a link to a LiveJournaler.

I was able to reproduce the Oreo embed on my own home computer screen as well about an hour after I saw the FARK post.

But it doesn't end there -- according to the related FARK thread, the *other* ad running under the Obama speech happened to be for Crystal Light, the text of which said "Put a little color in your life."

Um. Yeah.

---

One more thing that has nothing to do with the above.

It was with great sadness that I received from John the news of the passing of Arthur C. Clarke. He was the last of the masters of the Golden Age of Science Fiction.

In memoriam, let me mention my favorite last line of his, ever:

Overhead, without any fuss,
the stars were going out.

---

That's it for now. Have a great Wednesday, and remember, there's a new South Park tonight!
