Vote / Survival Tuesday, Jun. 03, 2008 - 12:21 a.m. Yesterday seemed to be the first normal day as far as diet and activities were concerned. John survived his trips to the dentist and chiropractor respectively, so we ordered Chinese takeaway as a reward for surviving the week. --- Monday night's hockey game was a real hand-wringer; there was the obligatory footage of some schlemiel in the back room with a suit and white gloves on, taking the Stanley Cup out of its travel case and placing it on display, because the Detroit Redwings were leading the series against the Pittsburgh Penguins, three games to one, and were leading in Game Five. But the award ceremony was not to be. The Penguins came from behind in triple overtime, 4-3 to force the Detroit Redwings to a Game Six. --- My physical recuperation seems more or less complete. The opportunistic flora are nowhere to be found and my mucus membranes all seem to be all right, with the single exception of my mouth and tongue still being sensitive to mouthwash. Oh, and my lips are still a little chapped, too. Other than that, I think the symptoms are abating once and for all. --- If you have to vote today, go and do it with information and clarity -- and think about all the countries where it's not allowed. Have a good Tuesday. ---
