Quake, Smile, & Wow Wednesday, Jul. 30, 2008 - 12:27 a.m. At around a quarter of noon yesterday Old Buddy Dave logged on, which is the usual time he logs on during a normal work day. We began our chat, in Yahoo Messenger -- then he disappeared. And I couldn't get through to him on the cell phone until my third try, which is, in light of everything, a relative success. Old Buddy Dave lives in Anaheim, and there'd been an earthquake with a Richter of 5.4, and the epicenter about 19 miles away from him. He and his kitty are okay, but he said it was quite a ride. One line in his entry said "If any of my readers went through it, I hope you're all okay...including your pets." And I swear, I read that thing two or three times and FINALLY saw that the last word wasn't 'pants'. --- I finally heard back from Dan. If he can repair the vehicle he's planning to drive to the meet, then we're all good to go! A fine state of affair I find myself in when I'm actually missing Yuba City, huh? Go figure! :-) --- Yesterday, I had the pleasure of exchanging email for the very first time with Omaha Dave's wife. She seems like somebody I will enjoy getting to know better. Smiley smile smile. --- Finally, as noted on FARK -- happy birthday to Kate Bush, who turns 50 today. Wow, wow, wow -- unbelieveable. It's also the 50th anniversary of NASA. Coincidence? I think not! --- That's it. Have a good Wednesday. ---
