RIP Cero's

Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008 - 12:02 a.m.

Steam Burn 08 Report:

I'm off of the bandaids and aloe vera gel, and the blister has disappeared.

---

Keane tickets went on sale for a little show to be held in Los Angeles on Sunday the 7th of December. I will be down there and Old Buddy Dave doesn't work Sunday nights.

I fumbled around and got to the ticket vendor at around thirteen minutes after the tickets went on sale yesterday morning.

Gone.

Well, it's nice to know Keane is still appreciated. Sigh.

Friday Five!

What is a common ear worm that you get?
Mostly stuff I vaguely recall seeing or hearing on MuchMusic from twenty years ago when I spent time in the Idaho panhandle, sucking up the Canadian television signals with a Big Ole Backyard Bird Sucker. I'm stunned at what's been available on iTunes.

How long do they last?
Until I track them down or a different earworm takes hold.

What do you do to get rid of them?
The primary motivation for purchases from the iTunes store has been for the purpose of eliminating earworms.

What is the worst ear worm you've ever had?
Recently? That little synth bridge thing in "Genius of Love" by the Tom Tom Club got into my head and gave me a headache. But if you want an earworm from an entire song, the winner by a country mile will always and forever be "Twiggy Twiggy" by Pizzicato 5.

Do you get some guilty pleasure in passing the ear worm along?
Who doesn't?

Finally, sad news from Old Buddy Dave last night, via text message.

Cero's will be closing its doors this week. And it's closing for a dumb reason that didn't have to happen.

It's Dave's story to tell, so I will put in a pointer when he posts, [Editors note: There it is!] but I gotta say I'm sad.

Especially because I was headed back there next Thursday after a four-month hiatus.

Anyway, hope your weekend is going well. Have a good Saturday.
