Car Fix & Brother John

Friday, Dec. 19, 2008 - 12:30 a.m.

Yesterday, the car got fixed, and I met Dave's brother, John.

They are enough alike that it was nice to see both of them together, but different enough to see the variations that exist in siblings.

My own brother and I do not resemble each other in the slightest, yet people outside the family can see immediately that we are brother and sister.

John was very kind and very funny and he paid for dinner, although we did have a tug of war that was pretty decent if you ask me -- but I honestly have no earthly idea what his private assessment of me to others will be.

Duh, I guess that's why it's private.

---

While waiting for the car to be fixed, Dave and I traipsed down the block to Arthurs, which is one of these locally world famous places that gives you an imperial assload of breakfast food for a reasonable price.

We sat at the table and ate, then Dave broke out a cribbage set, and I re-learned a game that I'd last played with Mom and Dad when I was in my early teens.

---

A couple of passings of note -- Majel Roddenberry, and W. Mark Felt, who was also known as Deep Throat.

Both of them had indelible marks on the history of this country in their own ways.

---

Nothing else to report today -- have a really good Friday.
