Big Love

Thursday, Mar. 12, 2009 - 12:00 a.m.

South Park was its usual amazing self.

I bet the Disney legal department alternatively drooled and wept all night.

---

Later this morning, John hauls me down to the DMV and I get my pitcher took.

This is the second time in the space of a week that I've been forced to find matching shoes and a bra and actually head outside.

Heh. It never rains but it pours.

Okay, Jamie, this part of today's blog entry is all YOUR doing.

Yesterday, Jamie commented:

*wonders to self* "Will Brin blog about the Mormon church's beef with HBO re: the notorious Mormon wedding scene scandal on "Big Love"?" ...

Actually, let me just say it this way: If certain factions of the Church are going to come to California and propagandize against homosexuals under the tenet of constitutionally-protected freedom of speech, then that very same freedom shall be applicable to anybody who wishes to broadcast rarely-seen church doctrine on a television show. It either applies to all, or applies to none.

Cafeteria Constitutionalism is incorrect under any parameters you care to name.

While I'm on the subject -- let me say for the record that one of my very best friends here on Diaryland is LDS, and I wouldn't change a thing about her, nor would I wish she practiced anything differently. Likewise, she respects my right to be a Pagan.

We both understand that a righteous Creator couldn't possibly have the temerity to say one or the other of that Creator's children is better or worse when they've each chosen a path that leads to the same Light. Those mistakes are being made by mere Earthlings.

Besides, for the true believer, nothing a non-believer says should really make any difference, should it?

It will all get sorted out in the end. :-)

I think that's pretty much it. Have a good Thursday!
