My First Ferry Ride Tuesday, Mar. 24, 2009 - 12:09 a.m. Yesterday, for the first time since moving to San Francisco, I took the Ferry. I did a test run for Sunday, when I will be travelling to Vacaville by way of Vallejo more or less independently of John, and singing with Alan's band for the first time. --- There are lots of things that exist in San Francisco that are world famous, but which I don't experience. I've never been to Alcatraz. I've seen Coit Tower by accident when John took a wrong turn. Chinatown? Went there once with Cher1 H3yse when she wanted to go, five years ago. And up until yesterday, I'd never taken a ferry anywhere, although now that it's done, I have no earthly Idea why this hasn't been something I've done before. --- Here's a picture of the dock at the Ferry Building: This is the best picture I took, although this wasn't my stop, coming or going. --- The idea behind Monday's ride was to insure that I'd remember little extra details, like, oh, say, where the ticket office is, and what time these things arrive and depart. I am now all set. --- I spent about ninety minutes travelling each way, and just under an hour eating lunch and talking about music with Alan , who had his youngest daughter Grace with him. There's a song I suggested that he's actually considering; "Under The Milky Way'" by The Church, which is one of those songs you hear all the time, but you cannot identify the song name or the artist to save your life. Sure enough, about thirty seconds in, Alan said "Oh, *I've* heard *this* song before!" So I guess we'll work on this if all goes well with the others. --- Not a lot to report. The trip went well and I'm all set for Sunday. The specific extra touch having to do with doing the dry run yesterday was that John was home from work. In case there had been any kind of trouble, he wanted to be 'on call'. How else did John spend his Monday? Why, seeing the chiropractor, of course! Yep, because work made him -- a disabled person who uses a blue card in the car -- crawl around and unplug his cubicle stuff. Can't tell I'm upset, can you? What -- oh, these? Just bees shooting out of my mouth is all. I'll be calmed down enough to visit his office and not slap his manager across the face in about a year or so, thank you. If somebody doesn't help him put his cubicle back together later this morning when he heads back to work? I shall officially Out Of Patience with this and drop a dime over at the ADA. --- Anyway, there ya go. Have a good Tuesday. ---
