Crack Of Bleah Saturday, Apr. 04, 2009 - 12:33 a.m. Yesterday was the 'settling in' day where we shopped for the things I'd need to have during my stay that I didn't bring with me. Dave, as always, has graciously squired me wherever I've needed to go to get my stuff. These included such oddities as spearmint Eclipse gum, and Cool Mint Listerine strips. Dragon breath notwithstanding, these things also have minty vapors which help me breathe. Buying them down here in Orange County saves me a weensy bit of tax money which doesn't impact my budget at all -- but it's the principle of the thing. --- Early Friday morning, I heard one of the neighborhood cats out on the front balcony, at the water bowl. I went to see which one it was -- and when I opened the screen door to peek around the side, an opossum was sitting there, staring right back at me. We both jumped a little, so I shut the screen door, and it walked past me and down the stairs. I never saw one up that close before that hadn't already been gunned down by my grandfather or squished by a car, so it was interesting, to say the very least. --- I think we are heading to the parks today for a bit, but the big day I am waiting for is Tuesday. On Tuesday, I get to take a printed certificate to the ticket booth, show them it's my birthday, and they will give me a gift certificate for the price of admission to one park. As of this writing it's just a smidge under seventy dollars, so getting up at the crack of bleah will be worth it. --- That's pretty much it. Have a good Saturday. ---
