Goodnight, Uncle Walter

Saturday, Jul. 18, 2009 - 12:39 a.m.

Friday was pretty quiet. John made it to the chiropractor and back and is now zonked out fast asleep in bed, resting his weary bones.

Dinner was Hamburger Helper Stroganoff, but wow, they've got this stuff down to a science.

Earlier in the afternoon I'd prepared some ramen.

While I was waiting the three minutes for the ramen to cook, I turned on the TV, and I saw the news about Walter Cronkite.

---

When I was four, I can remember my parents making me get up early in the morning to see the 'aster nots' when they landed on the Moon.

Walter Cronkite was the anchor of the news that we watched. It's hard to imagine the space programs of the future taking place without his input.

Did you guys know that he was the very first civilian to ever be awarded a piece of moon rock from NASA? Cool, huh?

---

All right, on a lighter note, a Friday Five:

If you can only hear one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Novus Magnificat by Constance Demby. Heh.

What one song would you like to be played on your funeral?
Angels On The Moon by Thriving Ivory, but I also have a whole playlist all set, thanks.

What one song that is best to describe your feeling right now?
Whoever You Are by Geggy Tah. It's just a nice happy song.

What one song would you like to hear when you're sad and depressed?
Tie: We Close Our Eyes by Oingo Boingo and Let The Day Begin by The Call, and Turn Me Round by k. d. lang.

What one song that you wished you have written?
The Tonight Show theme by Paul Anka. Malbox money up the wazoo, baby. Although on an emotional level I wish I'd written 'Falling Slowly' (Hansard / Irglova), and 'The Future' (Cohen).

The link is to the left if you want to play.

---

That's pretty much it. Enjoy your Saturday.
