My First Tattoo

Concrete

Monday, Aug. 24, 2009 - 1:25 a.m.

I just got home from practice. My feet are tired from the concrete garage.

Band practice went well. Chris sounds like he's coming up to speed on the drums, and Mike T Bassist and he finally got to meet and work together.

And what else.. hmm what else... OH YEAH!

Todd, the band's lead guitarist, resigned.

Out of a clear blue sky which apparently wasn't anything of the kind.

---

Alan made the announcement, everybody took a few minutes to deal, and then we went to work. We dithered with the playlist, worked around or eliminated the songs with critical leads, and off we went.

Yes, Todd's departure was a surprise, and nobody saw it coming. Alan says sometimes this happens, so I'll take his word for it.

Still, deep down, I can't help feeling like I caused a problem by placing the CL ad and suggesting to Alan that this was the response that sounded the best.

Developing a thick hide for this sort of thing was the one part of band care and feeding I wasn't looking forward to, but here it is.

But, it's something every member is doing for free, so it's not like anybody is in breach of contract.

So there it is. We are now officially looking for a lead again. Vacaville Sacramento Fairfield etc.

---

I am thinking that there's a Good Cry lurking in here somewhere, still, before I can officially let this go on a personal level.

I know Todd wouldn't hurt me for the world, but it was kind of the first official thing I did for the band, so to have it not work out is one of those Wonderful Learning Experience I would have preferred to have done without.

But the band will keep going, and I'll try to keep giving it my best for these fellas, and in the long run -- we'll be okay.

---

That's really about it from here. Have a good Monday.
