Apple Happy Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009 - 12:00 a.m. I got back from Sacramento on Friday night, on the bus. Before I got on the bus, I said goodbye to Dan, and as I was doing so, I stepped backwards and tripped on a tree root sticking out of the ground by the tree in front of the Greyhound Station. When I went down, I went down spectacularly, and dropped my computer case. After Dan helped me up and dusted me off and saw me off and I got home, I discovered that the modem in my laptop was dead. So on Saturday, John and I took the computer to the Mac store in Berkeley. --- These guys are amazing. They've always been very patient with my bouts of ineptitude. The modem was indeed dead, but I was given a choice of having them keep the computer until Monday or getting a USB modem and heading home with the computer that same day. One USB modem later, here I sit. I'm having no problems with just having the dormant modem here in the computer. --- I'm in my twentieth year of ownership of an Apple computer of some kind or another. The boss of the Mac store hasn't even been Apple-ing for as long. But that doesn't make me competent. Loyal, yes. Competent, heh. --- And I have a Dan Hand bruise on my left arm where he tried to keep me from hitting the ground too hard. The end. Happy Sunday. ---
