Strep Globes Monday Jan. 18, 2010 - 12:08 a.m. First, happy belated birthday to my tolerant husband John, who spent his Saturday birthday taking care of me, but getting some downtime for himself while I hibernated. I was down with the grot. --- For the last few days, I've been offline for most of my day, which is rare, but I was ill with an old friend that I haven't had to deal with since I was in elementary school: Strep throat. I slept on a pile of pillows instead of just one, my temperature broke over the weekend, and my cough has dwindled to the point of taking something before I go to sleep. Before everything got to this point, I took four aspirin every six hours, and brandy until I stopped coughing. I've since discontinued the above, taken no aspirin for twelve hours, and will use a two-teaspoon dose of Robitussin when I head to bed. And Aunt Flo got here, too, so thanks to the coughing, I think she'll leave town in about 48 hours. --- The Golden Globes were fun, and hooray, Avatar won best director and best picture. I'm absolutely honored to have seen this thing first-run. The Martin Scorcese award segment was lovely and now we want to see more of his movies. Conversely, I saw at least four different women who looked like they were wearing tablecloths or bedsheets. --- Nothing else to report. Have a good Monday. ---
