Dreaded Years

Monday, Apr. 26, 2010 - 12:36 a.m.

In honor of Boobquake, here's a picture of me wearing nothing but panties and red shoes.

Did you feel it?

Okay, in other news, the man who performs the voice of the narrator of the Geico commercials -- no, not the gecko -- has been shitcanned, for reasons that I personally believe are absurd.

Here's an article from eCanada:

Be careful what you say in private.

First Facebook, and now private messages left for companies or groups? Geico voiceover actor Lance Baxter, better known as D.C. Douglas has been fired by the popular insurance company due to a voicemail he left a grass roots company.

Baxter was responding to a gay and racist comments made by Tea Party members toward two Congressman in which he asked FreedomWorks how many mentally retarded individuals they had on board their staff. The voicemail went on to ask what the groups actions are when a Tea Party member killed someone.

FreedomWorks is a company lead by former House majority leader and Texas native Dick Armey. The group supports lower taxes with less government interference.

According to PRWeb FreedomWorks had harrassed the insurance company to release Baxter from his job by posting Baxters number on a site called biggovernment.com asking its supporters to contact Baxter and the insurance company stating they are shopping for insurance.

Baxter defends his actions saying Racism and homophobia are my Achilles heal, but unfortunately my message included inappropriate words and I am sorry for that. However, telling their members to harass my employer to get me fired is an egregiously disproportionate response to my actions.

Although Baxter does not blame Geico for protecting their reputation, he also argues that the call was made as a private citizen and not on behalf of the company.

The voice over actor is in search of a lawyer who will argue his case for pro bono.

Last week when I was out to lunch with a 27 year old guy, the waitress came up to me while he was away from the table and asked me if he was my son. Now, mind you, he and I do have the same color eyes and the same kind of cynicism, which we were expressing vociferously through the afternoon.

But it was something of a catalyst for me, so this week, I'm coloring my hair. I suppose it's vain and silly, but that's okay.

It's not even female-specific vanity; I seem to officially be having a hard time with my *age.*

Which all things considered is something of an ironic shitpile, considering it's going to be especially miraculous for me to rack up those dreaded years.

All right, that's it. Have a good Monday.
