Rainbow In The Dark Monday, May. 17, 2010 - 12:05 a.m. First, RIP Ronnie James Dio. In 1984, I moved away from home into a little apartment complex in Marysville, California. My next door neighbor was Kerry Delamere, and he had an electric guitar and was trying to learn how to play Rainbow In The Dark. Armed with the blessing and the curse of perfect pitch, I listened to the song with him, and picked out the chords on Kerry's instrument, and showed him how to play the song. I went back to my own digs, and I picked up my acoustic guitar and played it for awhile and it sounded like it always did. But things were different. And the reason they were different was because the song Rainhow In The Dark had kicked my ass, and planted the seed that would have me eventually switching to electric, and then finally, these days, to electric bass. Ronnie James Dio is to blame for all of this. And I couldn't be more grateful. --- Next, I'm expecting to talk to Alan Brownlee later today. I'm not even sure how I want this call to play out, but I am planning to do a lot of listening. Fingers crossed. --- Finally, I'm going to Anaheim on Tuesday and will be there until June 1st. It's been a long time since I've looked forward to a vacation this much. --- That's all for now. Have a good Monday. ---
