Dad's Christmas Vacaton Monday, Dec. 13, 2010 - 12:37 a.m. John recently mailed a package for me from our household to Perth. Among the items in it is my father's wedding ring. Dad had always been interested in Australia -- like me. After he became a teacher, sometimes when we were on one of his Long Drives, he'd mention that it would be a really nice place to visit over his Christmas vacation. But it wasn't anything he'd mention at home due to Mom Being Mom, and I have no idea if he ever spoke about this to my brother. Dad died in 2003, having never gotten around to making that particular trip. So I decided to send his ring to Perth for Christmas. If all goes well, it will be back here in the states in around a month, hand delivered by the person we entrusted with it. Think good thoughts, please. --- In other news, musicwise, I've been engineering my own vocals for the very first time; I think everybody who hears their own recorded voice is surprised at how they sound, and I'm no exception. I'm pretty sure the song I was working on is finished now -- but I have to leave it alone for a few days and then come back to it. If it still sounds finished, then I'll mix it down and we'll see if it passes the Moving Car Test. --- That's it from here. John gets his CPAP on Tuesday and we will both be elated! See you next time. ---
