Water And Moon Wednesday, Jun. 15, 2011 - 6:33 a.m. So that beautiful black catamaran sponsored by Oracle showed up for an America's Cup promotional appearance in the San Francisco Bay Area -- and managed to capsize right in front of all of the potential investors. I am glad everybody's all right, and I'm also glad this race is going to be held here, but I've been following the America's Cup for years, and I finally even got to see one of the boats up close a couple of months ago -- and what I wish could happen was that this race could be more like that stock car race where everybody draws their keys out of a bag, and drives a random car out of a pool of thirty as-identical;-as-possible vehicles. That way, the race would be about the talent of the crew, not the construction of the vessel. Besides, as you can see above, there are times when a fancy boat doesn't keep a mishap from occurring. --- Also -- today there will be a very long and very cool lunar eclipse that nobody in North America will be able to see. In fact, the best part will be taking place over India, Africa, and West Australia, in the middle of the afternoon our time. Because of the volcanic ash in the atmosphere, the eclipsed moon might look red. And as a certain local female news anchor once warned her viewers during a 'throw', it's extremely dangerous to look directly at a lunar eclipse. --- That's enough. Have a good Wednesday and I'll see you next time. ---
