Superbowl Sunday Slumgullion Sunday, Feb. 01, 2004 - 5:19 a.m. Okay. Carolina Panthers over new England Patriots, by at least three points. --- Stocks to invest in for ethical reasons: Apple Computer, because they are NOT farming out their tech support to exotic and unintelligible places, and Pixar, for being able to walk away from their Disney deal. I think Pixar is going to follow in the footsteps of Lucasfilm. I've been watching the ticker since the announcement of the split, and Pixar stock went up around three percent just since then. Oh, and Disney's went down. Eisner and his gaggle of minions have Mickey Mouse's pants down and they're jamming it to him right under his tail, with no candy or flowers. Eisner is an idiot. Pixar and Apple are both headed by Steve Jobs. Shake his hand if you ever get a chance. That's what ethics feels like. --- Dave Marron had an earworm yesterday afternoon. It struck as he was in his vehicle, heading to the grocery store. So I was treated to a couple of verses of "The Unicorn". I hadn't heard that song in ages. Dave has a lovely voice. --- Another thing that happened yesterday was that John and I finally found the time to sit down and see The Right Stuff. I'd forgotten what a great movie that was; I had fun recognizing this and that character actor. And I think the next guest that should be invited to go a-shuttling is Chuck Yeager. --- Supplemental Candlemas Update: Today is the 14th anniversary of when the Goddess found me. To observe the day and the anniversary, I'm going to light 14 candles and sing along with The Monkees' "I'm a Believer" on the stereo. :) ---
