Ted, Keane, and P&P
Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008 - 12:33 a.m.
I caught a glimpse of the Democratic National Convention yesterday.
Ted Kennedy was there in person, and he really looked as if this might have been his last public appearance, but we'll see.

Early Monday morning on the Steve Lamarq show on BBC 6, I heard an interview with Keane in which another few songs were played from their third CD, Perfect Symmetry. If you want to hear the interview, go and investigate the section called 'Listen Again' before next Monday.
Oh, my gosh, you guys. My heart is broken.
The song "Better Than This" made me throw up in my mouth a little.
You think I'm kidding? Meh.
What really hurts is that nobody told them this material sucks before it was laid down in final form and sent for its pressing.
I sure hope they've made enough money from the first two.
And I hope there's a minimum of songs from this CD played during the US leg of the tour.
You have been warned.

On an unrelated note -- if you are a fan of the 1995 miniseries version of Pride and Prejudice, starring Colin Firth as Darcy, and Jennifer Ehle as Lizzy, here's a lovely set of avatars you might enjoy.

i burst into tears with pride when i saw the Mighty Senator, riddled with brain cancer, get up on the podium, and rally the crowd with a stirring speech, although it was a snippet of his 1980 speech, nonetheless, i am proud to be known as a Kennedy Democrat. However, I will not support this junior senator from illinois in any way. shape. or form. --- requiel - 2008-08-26 15:56:39
Those avatars are awesome!! I love A&E's Pride, I think it's the best one ever. Le sigh. --- Brin - 2008-08-26 16:50:06
The Kennedy family supports Barack Obama, and has requested that all Kennedy Democrats do so as well. And yes, Requiel, I thought so, too, on all counts. :) --- bluesleepy - 2008-08-26 18:17:45
Thanks for the info on the avatars! I love the A&E P&P so much that I have it twice on DVD. There are few things better in this world than that movie. --- beanie - 2008-08-27 02:11:14
there was no deadline, and the chatter has long been over. thats why i'm wondering why it all had to come up again. like I said, it wasnt your comment, it was the fact that it was sent to us in an email and the spirit in which it was sent. --- Bindyree aka Brin - 2008-08-27 02:33:27
Well, since I never saw the email, I don't have any earthly idea why people are upset. As for it coming up 'again', I haven't said anything until yesterday, when I laid eyes for the first time in my life on the blog where I left my comment. I am assuming it was a hell of an email if it warranted this much attention! --- Jamie - 2008-08-27 05:27:56
Richard, Dave, Ed and I were all just saying yesterday, having seen Senator Kennedy speak; that he -looked- fantastic and healthier than ever. Hmmm.
Love you, sweetbritches! --- Brin - 2008-08-27 05:35:38
Yes, he was nicely put together, but you could see the shaved patch on the part of his head that had been operated on. He went from the hospital in MA to the plane, to a car, to the hospital in CO, to the convention center, and then back to the hospital. So, I dunno, my love. I think it's gonna be a close race between him and Paul Newman to see who exits first. :-/ --- boxx9000 - 2008-08-27 06:44:58
OBAMA in 2008! It's the only intelligent choice this country has to dig itself out of the mess that the Bush administration has made. WHAT an absolute disaster the last 8 years have been. WANT MORE? nope. I WANT CHANGE! --- Brin - 2008-08-27 07:55:52
Yes, Boxx, I agree with you, now that the final candidates are known. I am eager to find out who McCain is choosing for a running mate, &fwiw, hoping for Lieberman, but I will be voting for Obama regardless of who McCain chooses. ---
