FRIDAY FIVE October 10 / Cookies

Friday, Oct. 10, 2003 - 4:42 a.m.

This week's Friday Five: (Questions are boldface, my answers appear beneath.)

Do you watch sports? If so, which ones?

A: Baseball, some football, some hockey, most or all sports featured on the X Games, track and field, tennis, gymnastics, golf, and figure skating.

What/who are your favorite sports teams and/or favorite athletes?

A: Lance Armstrong, Tony Hawk, Scott Hamilton, Ilia Kulik, Sergio Garcia, Serena Williams, Andre Agassi and in spite of themselves, the San Francisco 49ers.

Are there any sports you hate?

A: I don't hate any sport, but I never watch basketball.I don't know why, but I just never got interested in it.

Have you ever been to a sports event?

A: Not since my senior year of high school when I used to go to football games.

Do/did you play any sports (in school or other)? How long did you play?

A: I got pretty good at badminton, but I didn't join the school's team because I couldn't spare the time.

Okay. Now, if you wanna play Friday Five, go here.

---

I'm up at this hour because I still have some things to do prior to leaving for my grandmother's funeral. I'm baking chocolate chip cookies because she almost always had some in the cookie jar whenever I was there. It's an exquisite morning, with a full Blood moon so bright that the shadows of the trees are crisply defined.

---

Last night, I had a telephone visit with Cheri -- who, by the way, was the first person to send me a sympathy card; thank you, sweetheart. I'm not certain where two hours went with her, but it was nice to spend the time not doing anything funeral-related.

I also don't know what I would do without the good folks here at Diaryland; if I couldn't take a few moments during a day and walk around in other peoples' moccasins for a bit, I think I'd go crackers. So, to all of you -- thank you.

---

And, extra hugs today to Todd Thalimer, who lost a favorite aunt yesterday, and to Scott Hysmith, who is getting a brain scan today to see if the doctor can find what's causing his headaches. Today, I will be with you both, as I know you are with me.
