Standing Up Saturday, Apr. 24, 2004 - 7:56 a.m. Yesterday was a warm day here in the Bay Area, and the wind wasn't as bad as it's been for the prior days of the week. At one point I even had my hair up in ponytails. I haven't done that in awhile, and forgot how nice it is to have the nape of my neck exposed to the elements. Yesterday I also had a BITCH of a time staying logged in to Yahoo Messenger while the webcam was on, so I finally got frustrated and switched the computer off for awhile. I did channel the frustration though, and made a change. Todd Thalimer made a suggestion based on what he'd seen here on Easter. So, my music workstation has been changed. It used to be a sitting workstation, but now, it's changed to a standing one. Todd was right; I seem to be better able to manipulate the controls and have a little more movement and support while I'm standing up instead of sitting at the bench. Now all I have to do is scotch the keyboard with some folded cardboard or something, as I seem to be between clicks. I mean, one click of the keyboard stand is too low, and the other click is just a tad too high. But I'll get it figured out. I'm not used to it yet, but I'm thinking that this is a change for the better. --- A trip to IKEA may be in the works today, but the one over in Emeryville is basically out of reach, due to construction on the Bay Bridge that we don't feel like wading through. However, there's an IKEA on this side of the bay, too, in East Palo Alto. That might be where we go. Don't know yet. :) --- My May issue of Allure got here. I want to curl up in a ball. The Olsen Twins are on the cover. There. Is. No. Escape. --- However, there's good news. Ben and Jerry's has joined the low-carb revolution. I have tried two of the ice creams in their Carb Karma line -- Vanilla Swiss Almond, and Half-Baked. The mouth feel is extrordinary; albeit the Vanilla Swiss Almond has a near-medicinal aftertaste due to the high amount of sugar alcohols that are in the mix. Half-Baked tastes a little better. --- And finally -- for you, and you know who you are, hang in there. Storms generally pass quickly. And no matter what, I will always love you and be here for you. Thanks for the visit yesterday. ---
