Okay. Here's what's going on in my neck of the woods. Greg Kihn is a morning personality on a radio station here in the Bay Area.

He was contacted by the producers of 'Hit Me Baby One More Time', and agreed to do one of his classic hits, plus a contemporary song.

The contemporary song he -wanted- to do was 'Boulevard Of Broken Dreams' by Green Day.

Green Day won't release the rights. For a damn one-time performance. Their stupid management thinks they are overexposed so they're not releasing any licensing rights at this time.

Well. Gosh. One would THINK fellow BAY AREA musicians would SUPPORT ONE ANOTHER. But NOOOO. What a bunch of doody-wanks.

So. What I'm doing as a protest is I am boycotting Green Day. I will never buy any of their work. I will never go see them play. I will not listen when they are played on the air. Which means commercials played near their songs won't get listened to, either.

So, Greg Kihn, hang in there, my man. It's a pity the people who put Hit Me Baby on the air over here didn't do enough homework to actually be able to implement the concept of this very cool show the way it should have been.

And it's a pity the work of so many contemporary artists has been stolen until the bad apples have spoiled the whole barrel.

Personally I think it's the responsibility of the producers to select and clear current songs, NOT the responsibility of the artist. In other words, the show should already have like, two hundred cleared songs on a list to choose from, instead of forcing the artist to agonize like Greg Kihn has had to.

Now then: When Mistah Kihn does finally decide on a song, I *will* patronize whoever has allowed it to be sung on HMB1MT.

And that's the name o' that tune.

Good luck, Greg!
