Birthday Call & Drivers

Wednesday, Apr. 12, 2006 - 2:37 a.m.

I have been having a rock hard beeotch of a time trying to get my Yamaha keyboard to understand what my Powerbook wants it to do, and vice versa.

I downloaded the correct drivers and started from scratch. I did every troubleshooting thing I could think of and nothing was working. The little 'connect' light on my midi-to-usb cable wasn't even ON anymore.

Then I logged back on and did a little more research, and I found out that every so often, MIDI cables are mislabeled.

Luckily, MIDI in and MIDI out are identical, so all I had to do was switch the jacks.

Everything works fine now. Butt dance!

I should have enough original music put together for an EP very soon.

I got a sweet birthday telephone call on Tuesday from Tweaty Boyd, a friend of mine for about sixteen years or so, if I've done my math.

He was so happy to tell me that he remembered to phone on my birthday that I didn't have the heart to tell him it was last Friday. Doesn't matter in the long run. Just so nice of him to make such a sweet effort. :-)

However, it does give me pause -- I wonder why some people have such a profoundly difficult time remembering things about me? Like, whether or not I'm even in the same house with them? In the case of my in-laws, almost every time I've been there for Yule and been in the bathroom, somebody rattles and shoves the door and then goes and does the headcount and cannot under any circumstances deduce by extrapolation who could possibly be in there. (rattlerattle BAM BAM BAM.. Them: "Hey! Who's in there?" Me: "The Ghost of Christmas Farts! Now leave me alone or I'll haunt you!")

That's it. Have a good Wednesday!
