Friday Five / Poly Ticks Friday, Dec. 15, 2006 - 12:50 a.m. I was watching The Brady Bunch yesterday. It was the second episode of the Grand Canyon storyline, and Mr. Brady was mentioning to Mrs. Brady and Alice that the name of their campsite was Ya-ta-hay valley, and that Ya-ta-hey was an indian word that meant 'hello'. Alice said "That's good to know, Mr. Brady. Now I'm all set in case I run into Tonto!" Canned laughter goes here. Later in the next episode, Alice does run into a native american. The character's name was Chief Eagle Cloud. And the actor hired to play this character was of course -- Jay Silverheels. --- Today is Zamhenof Day which observes the date of birth of the creator of Esperanto. On this occasion, I present a phrase to you written and sounded out in Esperanto for your use and enjoyment: Mi svebo sipo estas plenas je angiloj. (Mee SVAY-bo SEE-po EH-stas PLAIN-yas zhay AN-juh-loy.) Translation: "My hovercraft is full of eels." --- Friday Five, practically right on time this week!...
Sigh. I'll be showing my age with this... Bobby Sherman. Who do you currently have a crush on now? Tom Chaplin. Have you ever become so obsessed with a crush, you went to extreme measures to find out everything about him/her? Yes, in 8th grade. The poor fellow. Has your crush ever turned out to be your future girlfriend/boyfriend? Yes. Did a best friend ever turn into more than just a friend? Yes. Okay, if you wanna play, links are to the left. --- Congratulations to New Jersey for allowing same sex unions now. Speaking of politics, I sincerely home that if Tim Johnson is replaced, that the governor of South Dakota has enough ethics to replace him with a Democrat. --- And finally, Rosie O Donnell, you're still a numbingly narrow-minded person who abides by double standards. You outed poor Clay Aiken when you got on Kelly Ripa's case for telling him she didn't know where his hand had been and to take it off of her mouth, and you made fun of Asian Americans with a casual apology a couple of days later and a warning that you just might do it again. Do you actually do anything worthwhile anymore? --- Okay, there you go. Have a good Friday. And if you observe it, Happy Hannukah. ---
