One Year Post-Crikey Tuesday, Sept. 04, 2007 - 12:55 a.m. The Bay Bridge opened for business again eleven hours before it was originally scheduled to do so. Well done, folks. --- The McLaughlin household observed Labor Day by viewing two movies: Working Girl and The Full Monty. Both very wonderful choices. --- I'm noticing a nice juicy gap in the Usenet feeds to Google Groups, conveniently going from the spring of 2001 to the beginning of 2005 This seems to have included most of the first term of George W. Bush. How convenient. The president's ineptitude was documented in many of the political newsgroups, and now that infomation might not be so easy to obtain. --- I'm seeing where Janis Martin died yesterday. For those who never developed an ear for rockabilly, she was known in her time as the Female Elvis. My grandparents had some of her record albums, and I remember what a strong performer she was. Rest in peace, Janis. You paved the way for so many of my favorite female singers. Thanks. --- Also, today, September 4th, is the one-year anniversary of the death of Steve Irwin. I still don't grasp the enormity of the loss. --- I hope all who observed it had a wonderful Labor Day. Have a good Tuesday! ---
