Wonderful Fellas Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009 - 12:21 a.m. Goldman Sachs is moving their big annual conference from Las Vegas to San Francisco. It's the same weekend as Wondercon. You watch. I bet those guys are gonna go buy themselves some old funnybooks as investments. --- Monday night, the fellas really were wonderful to me. First, John sat up later than he wanted to and pushed the 'record' button and taped Part One of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. Then when Dave got home from work, he did the dishes AND made a late dinner. I am blessed. --- The fires in Australia are horrible, and don't even compare to what happened here in Oakland in 1991. Have any of you actually seen how a eucalyptus tree goes up in flames? There used to be lots of them planted in Oakland, until 1991. If the fire arrives by ground, the sap boils up in the trunk until the pressure causes the top of the tree to explode and throw flaming tree sap all over the place. If it arrives by ember, and lands in the tree top, eucalyptus leaves are the fuel of the gods. I hope anybody reading this from there is safe and their loved ones are all accounted for. --- I return to San Francisco on Thursday; it's been a lovely visit as usual, but I will be looking forward to weird little things like my own fridge and my own showerhead. Have a good Tuesday. ---
