Golden Light Saturday, Sept. 05, 2009 - 1:46 a.m. Fifty years ago today, my parents got married. Yes, despite the rumors, they WERE married, thank you. They made it to their thirty-fifth -- and then Mom got breast cancer and died the following spring. In 2003, Dad died of a heart attack. But they had a good run. --- John and I began watching Mad Men together, and we're loving it. --- The Bay Bridge construction proceeds apace. Yesterday's post has the best webcam site. --- I pulled the Craigslist ads looking for a lead guitarist; we have had enough inquiries to select somebody from the batch. Oh, please please let this process be properly underway. --- We had candles in the bathroom and kitchen last night; both night lights burned out within an hour of each other, which is weird. There had been one spare night light bulb, but after replacing it and settling down in our recliners with our full dinner plates, it was then that we discovered that it was not a regular night light bulb, but instead, it was the blinking yellow one that we usually install in the ceramic pumpkin. So I lit a couple of tea candles and placed one holder in the bathroom and the other in the kitchen. --- Just a typical day in the McLaughlin household. That's it. Have a good Saturday. ---
